Every year we show our local youth community our love and support by donating a free back-to-school service to a family in need! This year, our team will be using your nominations to gift a healthy hair styling service to one of our local little-ones before they start the school year!
If you know of a family who could really use our services to ensure their young ones start the year off on the right foot, please nominate them by sending an email to chelseaatversus@outlook.com letting us know why this special family deserves a day of pampering!
The last day we will accept nominations will be Monday, 8/19.
Every year, we participate in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event to raise awareness for Breast Cancer and celebrate those who have been affected. As a female owned and operated business, it is important to us that we participate in spreading awareness around breast cancer prevention and overall GIRL POWER!
You can help us by donating to our team fundraiser here!
We would love for you to join us at the final celebration on Saturday, October 26th at 10am, held in Virginia Beach at Mount Trashmore Park.
Thank you for your continued love and support!
Going natural and creating a new care routine for your curls can be overwhelming, and there is so much information available online that sometimes misguides our clients doing their own research. Here are the most common curl mistakes we see:
Using Oils to Moisturize : Using oils before applying your water-based styling products leads to low porosity hair, making your curl routine even more difficult in the long-run. Oils should only be used as a sealant on curls that are medium in texture. Coarse curls are better suited with products like curl butters to offer the right type of moisture
Brush Detangling : using a brush to detangle your curls is not only quite uncomfortable, but also pulls your curl, altering your curl pattern. When you are ensuring you’re knot-free, use a Tangle Teezer brush while you have conditioner in your hair. This helps add slip to help detangle without the discomfort and prevent breakage
The Right Products for YOU : with an abundance of curl-influencers who share their personal care routines and product favorites, many of our clients imitate styling routines and product choices from their favorite online idols without considering that these products/routines work for that persons curls, but not necessarily your own. Your porosity, moisture, and texture needs are unique to you and it’s important to receive personalized recommendations that keep your curls healthy
One of the most common questions we receive and also the most common mistake clients make when booking involves understanding the difference between an “End Trim” and a “Haircut”. We’re here to break it down for you!
A common myth about cuts is that asking for a Haircut implies you want to take lots of length off, but this isn’t necessarily true! A haircut service involves addressing all layers of the hair and creating texture through precision and cutting directions. Most haircuts involve layering and require extensive sectioning of the hair to ensure a nice and even blend in the end result.
Alternatively, an End Trim service only addresses the bottom 1-2 inches of your hair. End trims are typically completed after the styling portion of a service and do not require sectioning. During an end trim, your stylist will only take off the very ends of your hair to create a straight, even line. End Trims do not address layers, texturizing, or shaping in any way.
So what’s the big deal? It is important to know the difference in what service you are requesting when you book an appointment! Because haircuts will address all layers of the hair and require sectioning/shaping, they require quite a bit more time from your stylist. End trims are a more straightforward, quick cut. We want to make sure we have the proper amount of time allotted for the service you’re requesting!
Whether you require an End Trim or a Haircut based on your goals, we recommend paying us a visit seasonally (4x/year) to get rid of any dry or damaged ends that are stunting your Growth Goals!
