Why Do We Dry Cut Curls?
Our Versus Curl Cuts for our curly girls uses techniques that specifically cater to curly hair and has also changed the view of dry cutting as a necessity to guarantee that accuracy of the cut, leaving you with a great shape and style that is unique to you. Ask one of our curl specialists and they will happily give you an earful, but here is the breakdown of why this technique is the best route for our curl clients.
The biggest pro to an initial dry cut is the efficiency and the accuracy that it allows. When you arrive with your curls in their natural state and curl pattern, it allows the stylist to see exactly how your curls fall, and exactly where we need to cut. Another benefit for a dry cut is being able to see exactly the state of health of your ends. With a wet cut, the dead ends and unhealthy portion of the clients hair is often minimalized since the wetness of the hair masks damage, making it more difficult for the stylist to gauge just how much length they will need to take off in order to get your hair to the healthiest length.
As always, since the first step of the Versus Curl Cut is the dry cut, be sure to avoid any crunchy or firm gels. This will avoid any tugging on the hair and scalp, and make sure you’re not leaving with a tender head. Being on day two or three of your hair is an acceptable way to arrive, and any products other than the crunchy gel is acceptable as well, just be sure to arrive DRY!
